Reading Corner - Part 1 Gutter book shelf

As you've seen in my previous post we've begun our house projects. The first project we're tackling is Anastasia's reading corner. Step one was putting up her book shelves. We wanted something that would display her book covers and make it a fun little corner. Pinterest provided many ideas but the one that stood out for me was the gutter book shelf. I loved how elegant it looked on the walls.

Paul and I visited our local everything shop and managed to find gutters. With only two options I was glad to find the exact one I had in mind. We wanted to go with a plastic gutter and the reason was if Anastasia was to ever grab a hold of the shelf she wouldn't hurt or get her hands cut. For this project we wanted the shelf to be at a fair height for when she can later on go up and grab the book of her choosing. Right now we have up shelf 1 of 2.

One big gutter will be doing 2 shelves. at roughly 2.5 feet per side. This project has costed us a total of $47

Shopping list. (2 x book shelves)

1 - gutter - 10 ft long - $5.49
2 - corner gutters - $9.99 each
2 - Gutter Hidden hanger - $2.59 each
4 - End Caps - $1.69 each
2 - Shelf brace package (4 per package) - $4.59

After putting everything together Paul has thought of some possible improvements to make on the design and to cut down on materials as a whole.
