My ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Yesterday I participated in the ALS Ice bucket challenge. Although in the video I forget to say ICE there is very much so ice in the bucket. I was nominated by Savannah and in turn nominate Kyle, Leigh-Ann and my mother in law Mrs. B. I'm also leaving an open nomination to anyone who hasn't participated yet but would like to!

This is take 2 as I said in the video I managed to throw half of the water over my head. Mid as well do it right!

When I first started seeing videos on my facebook and instagram accounts I wasn't entirely sure what this challenge was. Admittedly at first I thought it was just another facebook game as I didn't listen to the videos with sound. As more poped up I got curious listened in and did a little research.

Perhaps the most moving of these challenges was that posted by Anthony Carbajal. His Ice bucket challenge was very funny. But the message after his challenge was done will forever stay with me. Please take a moment to watch his video below.

He gives us a glimpse into the life of someone with ALS by showing the care he gives to his mother, while revealing at his young age that he has also just been diagnosed. With tears in his eyes you see the fear and my heart just broke in two for him. When I was nominated for this challenge I took pride in what I was doing. I am hoping to be one among SO SO many to help make a change.

Unlike the unproductive what color is your bra game for breast cancer. These videos have significantly helped raise awareness and financial support . Last year the ALS foundation brought in a total of $2.6 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 26). Today that number is at $94 million! How can you not help but feel like this facebook . social media viral challenge is truly helping make a difference.  I encourage you to not only participate in the ICE bucket challenge but please if you're able to. Please donate and to the loved ones I nominated, please take a moment to participate.
