Homeowners!
9:54 AM0 Comments
So as you know via previous posts we're homeowners!

Our new HOME!
Wow that's surreal to say and honestly I don't think it's hit us quite yet. The move itself was pretty hectic but I think the day we closed during the week played in our favor. I love our daughter to death but moving while trying to keep her happy was a hard one. So the fact that we had 2 days of moving time where she was at daycare helped IMMENSELY! We had some amazing family help and managed to move completely in 3 days time.

"I pick things up and put them down"
Looking back I really really am glad this is our last move. Each house we've moved into over the years we've accumulated more and more 'stuff'. It was evident we were ready for our family home just by the sheer amount of 'stuff' we had. Also opened my eyes to how much crafting things I own! lol.

Moving with a baby isn't so bad but if you can help it and move maybe when you're pregnant or before may be a better idea lol. I wish the move would have been made when I was pregnant. I seemed to have been far less tired then lol. But then again it's amazing to share this huge family event with her and have her present to enjoy it. Knowing we're 'home' it just puts a big smile on my face.

Our Helpers <3
It was a joy to be able to spend this time with our family and having their help was amazing beyond words. Then Anastasia's godparents came over to help us unpack the kitchen, what a god send!! Seriously S got that kitchen into shape. Paul is more picky about where kitchen items are so it was so cute to see them go back and forth on what should go where. She steamrolled through a TON of boxes and I'm ever grateful for that!

Current state right now the house is still riddled and I mean riddled with boxes. Embarrassing unpacked boxes photos to come. We were smart and labeled everything and the room they'd go in. So on our moving days we brought the boxes to their correct room. So things aren't just piled in our living room and basement. Well the basement is pretty packed right now. It's good that we didn't have a ton of boxes in the living room as our little girl started crawling roughly 4 days after we moved.

Just a glimpse at our boxes!
To say I'm exhausted with all things moving is a major understatement. The fact that August has allowed us no weekends free is another thing on it's own. But it is what it is, so we'll try to get stuff done during the weeks. Which is less likely given that we're both so dog tired by the time we get home at 6 start dinner, take care of the pets and Anastasia, put her down for the night around 9, eat cold dinner and shortly there after feel the weight of your eyelids. We'll figure it out though just a new routine for us.

I am motivated to clean up though because, after cleaning up comes decorating!! Epp. I already have some plans in mind. Bathroom decor first then living room (fabric is on it's way ;) hahaha)

Crawling GIF!
So overall everything has gone very smoothly. Our closing went well and the previous owners left some furniture and odds and sods for us. We're adjusting to life as homeowners and our overall new situation. I love where we live, how we're close to a town we absolutely adore. The thing I love about the town most is they have a market every Saturday. Nothing beats (to me) buying locally and having fresh produce like that. Supporting your community while being able to enjoy some delicious food and can't forget the beautiful bouquets of flowers. Life is good, vies phenomenal and I truly believe getting this house was fate. After we adjust and make this house our home I think our anxiety will slowly fade away with regards to being in 'moving mode'.

The view from our Deck <3 Gorgeous!
Hope you all are doing well!

Forgetfulness
8:14 AM0 Comments
Don't you just love it when you forget you have an appointment and really aren't prepared for it? As adults we adapt, our children sometimes need certain things.

We had our home inspection yesterday which is a 4 hour long inspection. Cue realizing this when the work day is half way through. I was just shaking my head, how could I forget. Ugh. We get there and Anastasia is content laying on the ground playing with her toys while I all but soaked my work shirt in sweat. Holy Moses I really wish I had planned ahead lol. Luckily there's a basement. Actually thank gosh there was a basement. We quickly relocate downstairs. I notice Anastasia needs to be changed.. I look in the bag ONE diaper left... one.. Oye She'll need at least one more change before we head home. Luckily we have extra's in the car. Phew... crisis averted (no I don't like my daughter sitting in her dirty diaper for to long, diaper rash isn't fun to deal with). We made do though and Anastasia did just fine. I got worked up before all of this went down for nothing really. I should have given my daughter more faith than I did. She really was fine and it was all mommy who was worried for nothing. She played, didn't care where, was fed, changed and watched a bit of Pirate Fairy in her Carseat. We made do and she was just fine ;)

Oh man I need to really reel in the excessive worrying at times.
Stop worrying Mommy!
Oh and the inspection went well. We're really excited that things are coming together as they are. Only time will tell but this is likely our family home. That's so refreshing to say! Anastasia added another element of laughter to the process. It's special to have her here during such a big time in our lives. For me this is huge. Looking back on where we wanted to be in 5 years I'm shocked at how much we've accomplished, a lot of it within this past year alone.

Back to your regular scheduled program ...

So for the past few months we've been seriously looking at houses. That has left me feeling excited yet nervous for what the future holds. I mean buying a home for the first time as a family is a big deal right? :) Well to me it is, and that's all that matters.

It's been fun yet has it's moments having our daughter with us as we look at homes. Pretty much showings go on her time. We try to time everything well, but as any person and parent knows, the best laid plans... ;) It's definitely a blessing when my In Laws come to view houses with us. Often Grandpa and Grandma just can't let go of her because they miss her, and she them. So this allows us to kind of view the house completely. It's also a blessing that they come with us because of the knowledge they have with this type of thing. My Father in Law knows what to look for and inspects pretty much every nook and cranny. Love them so much for helping us in so many ways! Very very blessed to have them in our lives.

The best thing of all is seeing how Anastasia reacts to the new environment. We're extra cautious at these homes though because she likes to spit up and who wants to have their child spitting up on what looks like new carpets. The phrase "You break it you bought it." Runs through my head lol. Some of them we just don't want to buy ;).

A few things that really kicked our hiney's into gear.
1. I added this later but I really think it's a tie for the other #1. I want my daughter to grow up in her family home. A lot of times with renting we find ourselves moving every few years due to increases or just not liking the house. I don't want to be flip flopping like that and really want her to make new memories in a new home. :)

1. Finally have something that is our own and our own space.
When we looked at places to rent we had to find something that would do for the time being. This meant we didn't look at things as closely as we did when viewing a home we'd buy. This also meant sacrificing certain things especially when you have pets. Having pets drastically narrows down your options from the get go.

2. Hello Decorating freedom!
         So excited for this!
3. A yard that's ours to fence and do with as we see fit. Gardening Fun anyone?
4. Hello Decorating Freedom?
           Someone say Pinterest?

5. Momma seriously needs a big crafting/photography room.
The amount of props and things I've made this year alone has solidified the need for such room. And serious organization needs to happen.... *taps pinterest impatiently on the shoulder* (yes Anastasia will still have a play room for herself ;)

6. This should be #1 (so sue me I'd have 3 ties for #1) no more paying someone's Mortgage. The amount we pay in mortgage is more than what we'll pay taxes combined if we buy a home now. Not to mention rent is going up and I'd really like to just leave. We've had a great landlord who's always willign to fix things when needed but the renting phase of our lives we feel is done.

7. Moving is always looming over your heads. I've moved 10 times since 2009. Each move I found I kept more and more boxes unpacked. I hate feeling like you just can't plant your roots. Moving is exhausting. I suppose it does have one positive, it always forced us to declutter. Something we'll have to really put an effort into doing once we move into our home. But just feeling like you can't unpack, unwind and just make a living arrangement permanent is at times frustrating. I'm looking forward to unpacking completely :). I'm sure Anastasia will help ;) Okay she'll love the unpacking part just not the putting it away. hahaha

My husband actually said to me "I think it's good we're looking because I'm to the point where I'm really done paying someones mortgage." Now we do realize with renting comes some other financial freedoms such as not having to fix things that go wrong in the house. But we're ready to take that on. (Please don't come back to bite me in the ass too soon after buying a house!).

There are a lot of things we didn't realize when we first started looking at homes. A lot of it we were ignorant to. That is another post for another day really.

Overall it'll be interesting to see what this new chapter is like, more over moving with an infant. I suppose we're lucky in a way that she's not mobile. I've been taking advantage of nap times or times when my husband is playing with her to pack away some things. My goal is to do a box a day. Hoping that doing it this way will make the moving a bit easier on Anastasia and us. We're such a last minute family that I realize it really can't work that way anymore at least not when it comes to moving.

After all of that I will say that we are looking to put an offer in on a home. With the hopes of it working out we'll likely move in around August. I must say the views are simply STUNNING, 2.58 acers of land all lawn (Paul will enjoy cutting lol) and will make for such a beautiful scenery come fall (all seasons really but especially Fall.) Anastasia just seemed to be in awe from the first time we stepped in the home, which was nice to see. She was very alert and loved being out on the back deck. Here's a quick view at what could be our family home. Fingers crossed!
